The Deben Players were formed back in 1964 by members of the then 'Cornard and Seckford Players'. The Society's first ever production was Billy Liar which was performed at the Woodbridge Cinema in 1964.

Woodbridge Cinema, which later became the Riverside Theatre was our home for over 40 years until in 2006 we moved to the newly built Seckford Theatre in the grounds of Woodbridge School. Our first production there was 'The Noble Spaniard' in October 2006 followed by the Christmas pantomime 'Dick Whittington'. All of our main productions are now staged at the Seckford Theatre.

Over the years we have taken our productions on the road and have visited a number of local and national drama festivals. We regularly enter the Felixstowe Drama Festival and have been overall winners on a number of occasions including most recently in 2009 with our production of 'The Roses of Eyam'.

We are lucky to have a very dedicated group of members ranging in age from 5 to 70+ together with a small committee of trustees who look after the day-to-day running of the society.

As a society we are committed to developing local talent and we encourage children and young adults to work alongside our more experienced members to develop their acting skills. In fact, over the years a number of our members have successfully gone on to perform professionally.

We are a registered charity and we are also affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).
